Seaquestor is a ketch rig Allied Princess 36.  She is the eigth Allied Princess built (hull number ABC-PRC008-72).  She was laid down in 1972 and launched in 1973.  We bought her in June 1996 and have been gradually refitting her since then.  The table below lists the work we have completed to date and what we have planned for the near future.  Follow the links in that table to find out the details of each of the changes/upgrades we have made. Following the table are Seaquestor's specifications, an interior layout drawings, a few pictures (more to come soon) and some useful links.

1999 and beyond Our plans for 1999 and beyond are not yet firm because they depend on both where we will be and how we decide to use the boat. Some of the things that we are likely to do include: installing radar, installing a new electrical panel and completely rewiring the boat, and building a new propane locker in the aft lazerette to replace the existing locker on the cabin top. If we decide to go on an extended cruise, we will also add a life raft, a water maker and an SSB radio set.

DISPLACEMENT: 14,440 pounds (May 1998 - During launching this spring I asked the travel lift operator how much the boat weighed. He told me the load cells read a total of 20,000 pounds. Thus, it looks as if Seaquestor is a bit heavier than the design displacement)

BALLAST: 5,000 lbs Lead (Internal)

MAIN MAST ABOVE WATER: 45' (the mast is 39' long and is deck stepped)

RIGGING: 9/32" Stainless on main and 5/32" stainless on Mizzen

SAIL AREA: 604 sq. ft.

ENGINE: Westerbeke 46 (1987 - approx. 450 hours)

TANKAGE: Fuel - 12.5 gallons; Water 43 Gallons (3 tanks)

ELECTRONICS: Depth, knot/log, VHF, Loran, GPS

Seaquestor, like all Allied Princesses has a spacious cockpit. Here is Seaquestor's cockpit in a photo taken on a nice August 1996 afternoon during a sail off the central Maine coast north of Mount Desert Island. My wife Linda is at the helm.










This picture shows Seaquestor on the hard in April 1996 with the old bottom paint.









In addition to Seaquestor, I also have a 7.4 m (24 foot 3 inch) Challenger sloop named Chinook.
